Sarah Mattson, Senior Director of Economic Development

Sarah Mattson is the Senior Director of Economic Development for River City Company. In her role, Sarah leads and develops strategic programs to proactively recruit new businesses and support existing businesses. In partnership with municipal and civic leaders, she works to ensure Chattanooga continues to attract more investment, redevelopment projects, and employment opportunities in the urban core.

 With over 15 years of experience in small business development, Sarah is passionate about championing and supporting local entrepreneurs and business leaders. She previously led the Office of Entrepreneurship at the City of Chattanooga under Mayor Tim Kelly, and worked as a Senior Consultant for the Tennessee Small Business Development Center. She earned an MBA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is currently pursuing her Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) credential. She serves the community through various boards, committees, and professional organizations.

Fun fact: When she’s not helping Chattanooga’s economy grow, Sarah enjoys traveling, spending time with her two children, and pursuing her new passion: scuba diving.
