Beat the Heat with an Ice Cream Treat

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream!

What’s one of the most delicious ways to cool off in the summer? Obviously a sweet frozen treat, and with the heat wave this summer, there’s no doubt everyone could use one right now. July also happens to be National Ice Cream month, so there’s no better time to explore Chattanooga and try all the ice cream it has to offer.

The interns took to the streets to taste test a few spots in Chattanooga!

Frios Gourmet Pops

Located in the Northshore District, our first stop is home to tons of unique flavored ice pops! Frios serves up everything from frozen candy filled pops to a pickle flavored treat, so there’s an option guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s face! Their menu also includes a variety of gluten free and vegan options. No matter what you get off the menu, it’s not going to be your average ice cream treat!

Madison and I ordered the Birthday Cake flavor from the creamy section of the menu! It was the perfect combination of that sweet cake batter flavoring and sprinkles - but don’t worry, if you aren’t a big sweet tooth, it’s not too sweet. Frios’ menu boasted tons of different flavors that deserved honorable mention such as Blueberry Cheesecake and Blackberry Lemonade - needless to say, I will be making more trips to try out all of the flavors!

Clumpies Southside

Our second stop is a Chattanooga classic! If you’re from Chatt or just stopping in - Clumpies ice cream is a must try. We stopped in at the Southside location to try one of their signature flavors, Blueberry Muffin! Clumpies has been handmaking their flavors since 1999 and have their process down to an absolute science to ensure that customers receive the highest quality of ice cream! On top of amazing flavor choices - Clumpies locations’ are have fun artwork and seating to add to the experience of enjoying your treat in their spaces.

The Blueberry Muffin flavor feels like you’re eating a freshly baked muffin straight out of the oven. It’s the perfect level of sweetness with baked crumble to top it off! Who knew a bite of ice cream could double as a warm bite of a blueberry crumble delight? Clumpies hit the nail on the head with this signature flavor!

Cold Stone Creamery

Last but certainly not least, we hit Cold Stone Creamery located in Downtown Chattanooga! With crazy signature flavors and endless options to customize your own sweet treat, Cold Stone is a great spot to cool off while hanging out on the riverfront. Not only do you get to enjoy an ice cream - Coldstone is entertainment as well! Watch your ice cream be created as the employees throw it up in the air and catch it in order to mix all of your adds in together just right.

We grabbed two spoons and tried one of their signature flavors, ‘Mint Mint Chocolate Chip’ - a fun take on the usual mint chocolate chip order. This ice cream is bursting with flavor full of mint chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, fudge AND brownie chunks! This is definitely a must-try for chocolate lovers!
